Early Years Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone’s concern.  The Children Acts 1989 and 2004 stated that ‘the welfare of the child is paramount’ and defined the concepts of ‘significant harm’ (Child Protection and Safeguarding) and ‘children in need’ (Early Help). The most recent revision of the associated government guidance is Working Together to Safeguard Children (July 2018), and this statutory document is clear that ‘safeguarding children and protecting them from harm is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play.’
